Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno was in studio Thursday morning for our regular segment designed to offer public access to the executive branch of NJ government.

Today we handled calls ranging from a family left with debt from Sandy as a contractor left them high and dry to a heartbreaking story from a woman who lost her husband in a head-on crash.

Kim always listens intently and assures the callers that she will get them an answer, even if it's one they don't like. These segments have really highlighted the need for transparency in government as well as increased accessibility for the average citizen. Seems that our state government is a closed door to many New Jerseyans struggling with health issues, financial issues and issues related to natural disasters.

Thankfully Kim is ready, willing and able to help. We do need to think about solutions that will free up government resources in order to prioritize people in need. But since government is one of the worst ways to deliver goods and services to those who need it most, we're lucky to have an active and competent lieutenant governor ready to help.

Bill Spadea is on the air weekdays from 6 to 10 a.m., talkin’ Jersey, taking your calls at 1-800-283-1015. Tweet him @NJ1015 or @BillSpadea.
