South Jersey wrestler Jordan Burroughs has failed in his quest to win back-to-back gold medals.

A favorite going into Friday's semi-final, the 2006 Winslow High School graduate lost to Russian Aniuar Geduev in a quarter-final round on Friday.  Burroughs is out of the running for the gold but can still get the bronze if he wins his repechage bout with Uzbekistan's Bekzod Abdurakhmanov, Burroughs will then face Azerbaijan's Jabrayil Hasanov in a bronze medal match.

With Burroughs record drops to 130-3 with the loss, his first since 2014. He won gold at the London games in 2012.

USA Today reported that Burroughs hugged his wife sitting in a section with other Americans and then walked out with his coach.

Burroughs unexpectedly drew Geduev's in a random draw that set up brackets having them meet early.
