A toddler who fell off a raft to the bottom of a South Brunswick swimming pool is alive thanks to the efforts of two police officers.

Soutb Brunswick Police Captain Jim Ryan told TAP into South Brunwick the arriving officers, George Morgan and Jared Harpster, administered CPR to a 3-year-old fell into the in-ground pool in the backyard on Whispering Woods Drive during a party.

Of the 24 people at the party, only one noticed the boy at the bottom of the pool, after he'd been there several minutes, police said. They jumped in, pulled him out and began performing CPR.

"People really need to pay attention to young kids at these parties with pools. Ten years ago we had a 5-year-old drown at his own birthday party after he went into the deep end of the pool to recover a toy and no one saw him. Put flotation devices on young kids and designate a person to watch the pool," Ryan told New Jersey 101.5.
