We’ve talked several times on the air about dealing with elderly drivers and the responsibility families have for taking the keys out of the hands of a potentially dangerous driver. Sometimes the process doesn’t run smoothly. In Texas, a 93 year old woman failed a driving test and her nephew attempted to take her keys.

The old woman resisted and grabbed a gun, according to an account from a Texas TV station. The nephew got concerned and quickly dialed 911 and when officers arrived the old lady was outside waving the gun around. She was instructed to drop the weapon, but she refused and the officer opened fire, striking the 93 year old five times. She later died at an area hospital. Neighbors described her a sweet old lady.
