Somerset County is 20th Happiest in USA

How happy are you, when it comes to the place that you call home?

According to a new survey, conducted by the financial services company "Smart Asset," if you live in Somerset County (as I do), you are amongst the happiest in the nation!

Out of the 978 counties that the group surveyed, Somerset County ranked as the 20th happiest in the U.S!

The survey looked at counties across the nation with a population of at least 50,000.

It also took into account such factors as: marriage and divorce rates, life expectancy, exercise rate, plus the bankruptcy, unemployment and poverty rates.

Smart Asset ranked every county on these quality of life areas, giving equal weight to each. Those rankings were then averaged, and earned a score from 0 to 100, based on that average.

Somerset County earned a score of 92.46

I can remember yellow Somerset County promotional posters in the early 1980s...they had a big "smiley face" on the top and said:

"SMILE....YOU'RE IN SOMERSET COUNTY!"

Apparently, it's still TRUE!

By the way...the happiest county is...Loudon County, Virginia, with a 100 score.
