Some Sandy Rebuilding Is Going Faster Than Expected [VIDEO/AUDIO]

As Sandy restoration and rebuilding efforts continue up and down the Jersey Shore, Governor Christie says we’re doing better than expected in some areas, and worse in others.

“Where we’re better is the great job the municipalities have done in terms of getting their infrastructure up and rebuilt. But in the rebuilding and rehabilitation of homes, I don’t think we’re doing as well as I had hoped, I think that’s Congresses fault,” said Christie during last night’s edition of the “Ask the Governor” show.

He said delays in federal funding have caused problems, but grants for homeowners will start to be distributed by the end of April or the beginning of May, and people will be able to start applying for those grants in about 2 weeks.

The Governor suggested that homeowners get all their paperwork together.

“So when we say it’s time to go and begin to apply, you can apply quickly and early and we can get that money out to you as quickly as possible.”

Christie pointed out the beaches are expected to be in excellent shape, many businesses will be back up and running, but there will still be some personal property destruction visible, and gawkers are probably going to show up.

“But law enforcement will make sure they keep moving along”

“And the gawkers aren’t all bad if they stop at a restaurant and have a meal, and they decide to buy a beach badge and go on the beach cause they decide they want a different view.”

The Governor also announced a $25 million Jersey Shore advertising campaign will be launched in May, to help attract visitors.
