The last day of our latest heat wave has created a "Heat Day" for some New Jersey districts.

Hamilton and Trenton public schools in Mercer County and Clifton public schools are all being dismissed early on Wednesday due to a lack of air conditioning in some schools.

Clifton parent Rosemary Pino was appreciative of the decision.

""It's hard to just close. We have to save our days for snow days, but the fact that they're acknowledging that it's very hot with this heat wave coming along, I think it's a great idea that they made that quick call,"  Pino told ABC 7.

Several students at an outdoor ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of Saint Dominic High School on Tuesday in Brick got dizzy and needed medical attention according to the Asbury Park Press.

"We shortened the ceremony, and EMS was notified as a precautionary measure," said Principal Carol Bathmann.

The heat should break on Thursday as a cold front moves through New Jersey late Wednesday night.

"Periods of steady rain are likely throughout Thursday with occasional heavier downpours" that will drop 1 to 2 inches of rain, said New Jersey 101.5 meteorologist Dan Zarrow,
