New Jersey State Police will set up a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday night on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Drivers could be stopped on the New Jersey Turnpike's Hudson Bay Extension in Jersey City between 7 p.m. Saturday night and  3 a.m. on Sunday morning. A specific location was not disclosed by State Police.

The Hoboken Saint Patrick's Day Celebration is scheduled for Saturday featuring parties and specials at more than 20 Hoboken bars. Promoted as keeping the tradition of celebrating St. Patrick's Day on the first Saturday of March, the event promises "fun in the streets, socializing with your closest friends, and rejoicing in celebration. You've probably been to Hoboken before but you might not be prepared for the festivities that take place on the streets of Hoboken during this joyous occasion."

State Police said that announcing the checkpoint does not take out any element of surprise.

"People who choose to drive after drinking already know how expensive, life-changing, and deadly such a decision can be," State Police said in an announcement of the checkpoints. "But they do it anyway in total disregard for their safety and the safety of everyone else on the road."

Drivers can also call #77 to report aggressive, intoxicated and questionable drivers. Police will need a description of the vehicle and occupants, a location and direction, and a license plate

"Do not get too close to the vehicle just to get this information. Your safety is more important to us than getting a perfect description," State Police wrote.
