Coastal Flooding, High Winds Biggest Threat From Storm

Coastal flooding, high winds and heavy rain are the biggest threat from the storm expected to affect New Jersey this week.

The storm is expected to go south of New Jersey sparing most of the state a major snow event on Wednesday.

The storm will bring winds of up to 60 MPH to the southern New Jersey coast to Delaware and moderate flooding along the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay, the Delaware Bay, tidal Delaware River, and the Raritan Bay according to a statement from the National Weather Service. Beach erosion is also a possibility further to the south.

Tides to watch are Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning.

Winds could gust to 40-45 MPH inland.

The heaviest amounts of snow should be in western Maryland and Pennsylvania although forecasters have not settled on a track. There is still a chance of the rain turning to snow on Wednesday night in some areas.
