Speed restrictions went into effect along the New Jersey Turnpike from the Delaware Memorial Bridge to Interchange 11 near Woodbridge. On Interstates 195, 295 and the Garden State Parkway, numerous spinouts and accidents were reported by motorists.

Several drivers described situations where multiple-lane highways were reduced to one lane as plow trucks and salt spreaders worked to clear the roads of snow and ice. It's unclear just how many accidents may have occurred.

Road conditions were generally reported as "good" north of the Driscoll Bridge along the Garden State Parkway. But in the area of the PNC Bank Arts Center near Holmdel, there were numerous complaints of black ice and treacherous driving situations.

The snowstorm is expected to move away from New Jersey overnight, with some clearing occurring afterward.
