BAYONNE — A small plane crashed in a North Jersey neighborhood on Sunday morning.

Bayonne's Office of Emergency Management in a tweet said the plane crashed on Avenue E on the street between 41st and 42nd Streets around 10 a.m.

FAA spokesman Rick Breitenfeldt said the pilot was the only person on board the Piper PA-28 and had been removed from the wreckage.

Photos and video from the scene show downed wires and the front end of at least one parked car destroyed.

Over 2,100 PSE&G customers in the immediate area were without power a.m., according to the utility's outage map, but most were restored by noon.

Broadway is closed in both directions between 45th Street and 30th Street along with Avenue E. from 45th Street and 30th Street.
