Stocks are edging higher on a quiet day on Wall Street, leaving the Dow Jones industrial average at another record high.

The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index was just barely below its own all-time closing high.

Stock trading was quiet and volume was very low. Bond trading was closed for Veterans Day.

The Dow closed up 21 points, 0.1 percent, to 15,783 points on Monday. The S&P 500 index was up a point at 1,771, a fraction below record close on Oct. 29.

The Nasdaq composite was up half a point at 3,919.

Oil driller Transocean rose after settling a proxy fight with the billionaire investor Carl Icahn by agreeing to pay a $3 per-share dividend and cut the size of its board.
