Sisters Of Boston Bombing Suspects Express Sorrow

The sisters of the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects say their hearts go out to the victims.

Ailina and Bella Tsarnaeva issued a brief statement Tuesday through their attorneys.

The statement says it saddens them "to see so many innocent people hurt after such a callous act."

It also says they have no answers and look forward to a thorough investigation.

Ailina Tsarnaeva lives in West New York, N.J., with her husband and baby. She has not emerged from her apartment building in days. The apartment remained under police guard Tuesday as the sisters asked that their privacy be respected.

Their statement was the first comment from either sister since the capture Friday night of the younger of their two brothers.

Attorney Joseph Ginarte added, "You can imagine what they are going through," he said, declining further comment.

"Our heart goes out the victims of last week's bombing. It saddens us to see so many innocent people hurt after such a callous act. As a family, we are absolutely devastated by the sense of loss and sorrow this has caused. We don't have any answers but we look forward to a thorough investigation and hope to learn more. We ask the media to respect our privacy during this difficult time."
