Signs Point to Robust Summer at Jersey Shore [AUDIO]

On the back of increased shore rentals, there is more optimism among business owners and tourism officials that this summer will be a good one for the Jersey Shore.

The long winter has spurred interest in real estate rentals as more people are thinking about warmer temperatures. Visitors are also interested in the attractions that await them once they arrive to their rental.

Bob Hilton, executive director of the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau, said their websites are seeing double the traffic, and they're experiencing a lot more calls.

"Now the question is, 'what's new? Does Six Flags have anything new? I heard Keansburg amusement parks is putting in a roller coaster, how can I find out more information on that?'"

While last year's summer was marred by concerns over the residual effects of Superstorm Sandy, Hilton said from his experience the storm isn't on the minds of visitors.

"I haven't had a single person in the last two or three months who has asked me about Sandy whatsoever."

Hilton said many people saw last year that everything was largely rebuilt by the time summer started so they know it's all reopen.

Based on shore rentals, Hilton said they are already poised to have a better summer than 2012.
