Elderly siblings killed in Freehold crash to be laid to rest

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — A viewing is schedule for tonight for a longtime Hoboken priest and his sisters who died in a car crash on June 4.

Antoinette "Shirley" Gallina, 85, of Cliffside Park died over the weekend at Jersey Shore University Medical Center as a result of her injuries in the crash that also claimed the lives of her brother, Father Michael Guglielmelli, 81, and Dolores Guglielmelli, 87, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni. Michael and Dolores both died the evening of the crash.

All three lived together in Cliffside Park.

Gramiccioni said they were in a Dodge Caravan with three passengers and a driver that was stopped for a red light on Route 537 near Wemrock Road just before 7 p.m., and rear-ended by a Honda Ridgeline driven by Austin Janowski, 19, of Freehold Township.

Gallina's daughter, Helen Gullina-Deluca, 54, of Freehold Township, remains hospitalized. Driver Joseph Stasik, 55, of North Brunswick was treated and released. Janowski was also released with a minor injury to his arm.

No charges have yet been filed in the incident, which remains under investigation by Gramiccioni.

A viewing for all three is scheduled for today at St. Francis Church on Jefferson Street in Hoboken from 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. Their funeral is tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the church.

Father Michael Guglielmelli was the longtime priest at St. Francis Church and retired in 2012. Upon his death Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer ordered flags to fly at half-staff in his memory. The street in front of the church was named after Guglielmelli.

"We have all endured a tremendous loss with the passing of Father Michael and his sisters, Dolores and Shirley. We ask that you all continue to pray for the recovery of his niece, Helen," current St. Francis priest Father Chris Panlilio wrote on the church's website.
