I was born too soon.

Often I ask myself anytime I see stories like the one’s below, “where were these women when I was growing up?”

Yeah, I know, it’s crass of me to even say that.

But, let’s face it…we have a double standard when it comes to teenaged boys having sex with older women.

A former librarian at a suburban New York high school has received three years' probation for pursuing a 16-year-old student for sex.

Marisa Anton was sentenced Tuesday. The former New Rochelle school district librarian pleaded guilty to endangering a child.

According to Newsday , Anton was accused of showing up at the boy's home with condoms. Prosecutors say she also sent sexually explicit pictures, texts and emails to the teen.

The 34-year-old surrendered her teacher's license as part of the plea agreement.

The (Vineland) school board met Wednesday to certify tenure charges against a district employee who was charged with having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.

In a special meeting, the board approved the certification of tenure charges against Stacy L. Johnson of Bridgeton. The tenure charges will now before forwarded to the state Department of Education.

Since her arrest in May 2012, Johnson has been on paid administrative leave. Once the state receives the tenure charges, her status will be changed to suspended without pay pending the outcome of matter.

Johnson, a social worker, was assigned to the district’s Success School, which was then located at Delsea Drive and Oak Road. The school served 23 students ranging from grades six through 12.

The student was 16 at the time of the first alleged incident that occurred in February 2012, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office alleged at the time of her arrest.

There is no allegation that anything happened on school property. The complaint alleges Johnson and the teen had sexual intercourse around Feb. 1, 2012, in Vineland and several more times around May 2012 at Johnson’s home in Bridgeton.
She was charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of tampering with a witness.

A New Jersey woman, who traveled about 1,000 miles several times to have sex with a 16-year-old boy in Gainesville, was arrested last week in her hometown.

Officers from the Carteret Police Department arrested Lisa Silva, 33, on unlawful sexual activity with a minor and traveling to meet a minor for unlawful sexual conduct charges, said GPD Spokesman Officer Ben Tobias.

The relationship started in July 2011 when Silva and the boy met on a Facebook game called YoVille, Tobias said.

Silva and the boy continued to talk to each other via phone calls, text messages, emails, letters and three in-person meetings.

Silva traveled to Gainesville twice to have sex with the boy, once in December 2011 and again in February 2012, Tobias said.

Gainesville Police started its investigation along with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI after one of the boy’s family members tipped off the department about the relationship, Tobias said.

Investigators issued a sworn complaint affidavit to the State Attorney’s Office against Silva Dec. 12, Tobias said. On Feb. 7, the SAO issued a capias warrant for Silva’s arrest.

At about 11 p.m. Feb. 18, Carteret Police arrested Silva during a traffic stop and booked her into the Middlesex County Adult Corrections facility Feb. 19 on a $100,000 bond.

Silva was released Monday after she met bail.

I’m sure it happened quite a bit back in the day as well.

Movies were made about it.
Songs were written about it.

Witness the Garth Brooks song “That Summer!”

Should we condone sex between teenage boys and older women?
