Tim Tebow addressed about 15,000 churchgoers at a service in Austin, Texas. Along with speaking about his faith, the New York Jets quarterback admonished athletes for not being better role models. This is an argument that has been going on since Charles Barkley played saying “A million guys can dunk a basketball in jail, should they be role models?”  In 1993 Barkley wrote the text for his famous “I Am Not A Role Model” Nike commercial.

Is Tim Tebow or any athelete a good role model?

What do you think? Should an athlete have to put “Role Model” on his/her resume? Are we going to see them because they’re good athlete’s or good people? Should actors be held to the same bar? …singers?  “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”.(No that’s not a Tebow quote;)

We want only one thing from our athletes, as the late Al Davis owner of the Oakland Raiders used to say “Just Win Baby” We prove that by letting convicted felons play on professional teams. Can anyone say Michael Vick?

If an athlete wants to be a role model , let him. It will definitely mean more endorsement money, but if he doesn’t, who cares? If you’re really looking for a role model for you child, try looking in the mirror. Then take  this poll..
