Hot 97 Summer Jam in East Rutherford, New Jersey turned into a mob scene Sunday night when fans tried to rush and scale the gates surrounding the area's largest one-day hip-hop concert.

tear gas and high-pitched sound blasts from an armored vehicle to disperse the hundreds of people attempting to enter MetLife Stadium. Some of the crowd threw glass bottles and trash at officers, and the night resulted in 61 arrests and 10 injured State Troopers.

Naturally, ticket holders that couldn't enter the concert because of the melee complained that they paid but were denied access. But while the radio station that hosted the event condemned the actions of those resisting the police, the head of the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey is calling for an independent investigation of whether police were right to deploy tear gas and sound blasters.

If you ask me, loud noise shouldn't be a concern because people were there to hear a concert.
