EDISON — Two people were injured in a shooting outside a hotel early Friday morning.

Shots were fired outside the E Hotel Banquet and Conference Center around 12:42 a.m. as well over 100 people attended a Halloween party hosted by various African American social service/collegiate-professional fraternities, according to Edison Police.

Police said they found party guest fleeing the hotel on Woodbridge Avenue on foot and in their cars. More guests were inside with some"arguing and brawling."

A 21-year-old Newark man was shot in the arm and abdomen while a 20 year-old East Orange man  was shot in the leg. Police said they found both inside a car stuck in traffic leaving the hotel parking lot and were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Their injuries are serious but not life threatening.

The gunman left the hotel  with two other people in a Buick, witnesses said told ABC 7.

An employee at the neighboring Hilton Hotel told CBS New York that dozens of costumed party-goers ran across the parking lot to escape.

“They were running from outside, coming in here, asking for water, like out of breath," the employee said.

Edison Police said they are still investigating the shooting and looking for suspects. Anyone with information about the shooting should call 732-248-7400.
