Gun Fired at Atlantic City Charter School

Two male students at an Atlantic City charter school have been detained by police after a handgun was fired in a school bathroom.

No injuries were reported in the shooting, but it's not yet known how the boys obtained the weapon..

Officers responded to the Oceanside Charter School just before noon Thursday after school officials determined a shot had been fired. The school's classrooms are housed in trailers, and the bathroom where the shooting occurred is also in one of the trailers.

The two boys, city residents ages 10 and 11, were identified by school officials as being involved. The handgun was recovered on school grounds and turned over to police.

It was not immediately known what, if any charges, the two students would face.
