The two-day event celebrates the life and work of Peace Pilgrim, an American sage who walked her talk, and the United Nations International Day of Peace (Sept. 21). Saturday's events include an early morning yoga practice, 2-mile intergenerational walk for peace, potluck picnic with entertainment and end with a drum circle. An interfaith spiritual service is scheduled for Sunday.

Fall Family Festival is Sea Isle's most popular autumn festival, featuring two-days of family-friendly activities and entertainment. On Saturday from 9 am - 4 pm, seaside vendor craft market and food vendors, live music, childrens activities, and amusement Rides. On Sunday History-buffs and auto enthusiasts will flock to display and admire scores of vintage vehicles while enjoying live music at the Auto Antique Car show on the promenade. Also on Sunday, Historical Trolley Tours will be led by members of the Sea Isle City Historical Society, who will point-out notable landmarks and explain how Sea Isle has grown over the years. Tours depart from Excursion Park every half-hour from 10 am - 12:30 pm.

Talented trombonist Jeff Bradshaw will headline its 13th Annual OSPAC Jazz and Brew Fest. This year's festival will feature an eclectic array of performers across varied styles and genres, from jazz legends to R&B royalty. With R&B and jazz sensation Alyson Williams, West Orange greats Nat Adderley Jr. and Jan Carden and Montclair's Jazz House Kids as part of the lineup, one of New Jersey's most-popular jazz festivals will host live musical performances by top artists both local and national. With the backdrop of Crystal Lake, the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center has served as a musical arena of sounds performed by jazz powerhouses who have traveled the world. The Old Barracks Museum will transform into a colonial tavern filled with music, drinks, and candlelight. Musicians will perform popular songs from the 18th century, and Dance Master Sue Dupre will provide dance instruction for those who wish to dance but do not yet know the steps. OCEAN COUNTY


However you call it, barbecue or barbeque, BBQ, Bar-B-Q or Bar-B-Que, cooking food over an open flame, either directly or indirectly, is practically an American way of life. Come watch and taste at the eighth annual Que-by-the-Sea BBQ Competition and Festival on Grant Avenue in Seaside Heights. On Friday, Sept. 16, the festival will begin at 5 to 10 pm. Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 am to 10 pm; and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. The main Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) competition will be held on Sunday. The KCBS sanctions the fun-filled competition which features competitors from all over the tri-state area. The festival includes, BBQ vendors, retail vendors, nonstop musical entertainment, and beer and wine is available with ID. Competitors will choose to compete in four categories, chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket. The winner will be chosen by a team of judges based on appearance, taste and tenderness. $13,000 in prize money and awards will be given to the winning teams.

The Makers Festival is a curated celebration of homegrown art, food, and music. The emphasis is on handmade, featuring over 100 vendors ranging from artists and jewelry makers to knife makers, woodworkers, soap makers and weavers among many more. There is a Biergarten featuring locally made craft brews, and live music all day long. Admission is free to the festival, $10 to the Biergarten, which includes one free beer and a souvenir mug. The Makers Festival strives to be a low impact event, therefore attendees are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to be filled for free at the Alliance for Living Ocean clean water stations. A portion of the proceeds from the Biergarten will be donated to The Jetty Rock Foundation and to a Southern Regional Art Scholarship. The Makers Festival is a juried event, all vendors must apply.
