NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League and Friends of EMAS (Edison Municipal Animal Shelter) to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes. Help us find these pets homes by sharing this information with family members and friends who may be interested in adopting a shelter pet.

Adopt Marilyn

Marilyn is a 12-year-old beautiful and affectionate cat at the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter. She has tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), but has remained healthy while living at the shelter for the past six months. She lived with two other cats, who do not have FIV, before coming to the shelter. Both of her housemates have been adopted, and she's still waiting.

Marilyn is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. Her eyes light up when any of the shelter volunteers walk by her kennel. She's a stunning, petite calico cat. She loves when her coat is brushed and is currently being treated for a skin irritation that is likely stress related. She's also currently on a special diet because her kidney levels were slightly off. Despite her health problems, Marilyn remains frisky and is deserving of a family to love.

You can watch a video of Marilyn here.

If you're interested in meeting Marilyn or adopting her, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org or call us at 732-248-7278. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Mikey

Mikey is a happy, young Labrador Retriever and American Staffordshire terrier mix at the Ewing Animal Shelter. He enjoys playing, going on walks and car rides. He's very friendly and affectionate. Like any young dog, Mikey is in need of some training on manners and patience. He lacks focus when there is distraction, but is very smart and knows how to listen.

Mikey is friendly with other dogs, but he hasn't had the opportunity to run loose with them. We have seen Mikey around cats, and while he doesn't seem interested, he will chase them when they are loose.

If you’re interested in learning more about Mikey or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Gus

Gus, a Pit Bull terrier mix, came to the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter as a stray and is anxiously awaiting his forever home. We think he is about 2 years old. He has brindle coloring and it looks like he might have some Mastiff mixed in there with his floppy jowls. He has one of those adorable smoosh faces.

Gus is one fine fellow with a very calm and cool demeanor once he is outside in the fresh air. He walks very nicely on a leash and loves to go for a nice stroll. One of his favorite pastimes is to lie down under a shady tree and get a belly rub every now and then. He is very smart and attentive during training and he already knows some commands. Gus is one of those dogs that will be very loyal once he gets to know and trust you.

You can watch a video of Gus here.

If you're interested in meeting Gus or fostering/adopting him, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org or call 732-248-7278. You can see more adoptable dogs from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Clementine

Beautiful Clementine, at the Ewing Animal Shelter, is as sweet as her name! Despite losing her tail in a painful attack, she continues to be a loving and attentive cat. She adores to be picked up and held like a baby. She will even rub your face with her paw. Clementine is also very talkative and will come to you when you call her.

Due to her past experiences, she would do best in a home with another friendly, low-key cat or dog or an older child. Clementine is litter box and scratch post trained. She is spayed, up-to-date on all of her shots and FeLv/FIV negative.

To schedule a visit to meet Clementine, please email kitty@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. You can find more of EASEL’s adoptable cats and kittens here, or download a PDF copy of the application form here.
