You could rank ice cream alongside bagels and pizza as things Jersey does best. From soft serve with *sprinkles* (that’s right, I commit to the term)…to small-batch flavors.

Earlier this week we gave you a first scoop of the best spots to go (in no particular order)... and you've been sharing your favorite frozen havens, too. Here's a second serving of New Jersey ice cream shops to check out.

Still more New Jersey ice cream accolades to hand out? Tweet me @ProudJersey and at @NJ1015 and let me know what you think.

1. Jersey Freeze (Freehold)

One of those local landmarks for Monmouth folks and a repeat trip for those passing through. The Freehold spot has got your ice cream, "shakes, cakes, boats, cones and more", plus a full menu as well.  Burgers, melts, sandwiches — even a Jersey cheesesteak. All in a nostalgic setting.

2. Sea Shell Ice Cream (Wildwood)

Massive ice cream sundaes and over 60 hand-dipped flavors await at this Wildwood fan favorite. The Brown Derby sundae or All American Banana Split seem like great places to start.

3. Denville Dairy (Denville)

You can tell Denville Dairy has been serving generations of fans, by glancing at the ice cream menu. From mini sundaes and homemade ice cream sandwiches, to summer specialty Sherbert Cooler cakes, they do it all.

The shop has two dozen flavors of homemade ice cream available at any time, with a rotation of over 100 specialty and seasonal flavors.

4. Ice Cream Depot (Milltown)

Talk about a Middlesex County hot spot! The Ice Cream Depot in Milltown has a loyal following. It's a cash-only stand that serves up generous portions, by checking out the many "cone shots" on social media. Salted caramel pretzel is among the crowd pleasing flavors.

5. Custard Hut (Somers Point)

Custard Hut in Somers Point is a must-visit for plenty of locals, plus plenty of summer folks milling around the Ocean City area. This season Root Beer water ice is back- plus a handful of new soft serve flavors- like Salted Caramel, Blueberry and Dreamsicle.

6. Scoops the Ice Creamery (Scotch Plains)

Scoops in Union County has a signature flavor that'll bring you back to childhood: Smurf ice cream! The shop in Scotch Plains is easy to get to, right along Route 22.

7. Halo Farm & Ice Cream Pubs (Mercer County)

When I was a Proud Jersey College Girl at TCNJ, I remember the thrill of trekking to Halo Farm in Lawrenceville for some cheapy and tasty local ice cream- by the pint! More than 40 flavors on the roster, made from Halo's own milk and cream.

The business has grown, with two Halo Pubs in Princeton and Hamilton Square. Taverns that serve ice cream and coffee! I believe a family pub visit is in order...

8. Skipper Dipper (Long Beach Township, LBI)

There's plenty of Jersey peeps counting down 'til this LBI spot reopens for the season. Once it does, the soft serve, hard ice cream and other specials will be joined by a new treat, that might bring some back to Disney. See below!

Lots of fans are 'spreading the word' of Vincent's Homemade. The shop's website explains the path to some favorite flavors "Through years of experimentation...Vincent discovered flavors like Coconut Almond Joy, Caramel Sea Salt Truffle, and Bada Bing Cherry."

10.Hoffman's (Point Pleasant)

What started as a Carvel shop has become a homemade brand with four Jersey Shore shops! All Hoffman's products are homemade at the Point Pleasant Beach location. The shop even has attracted some of TV's finest (calling longtime Criminal Minds fans!):

Proud Jersey Girl Erin Vogt’s first reporting gig involved her Fisher Price tape recorder. As a wife and momma of two kiddies, she firmly believes that life’s too short to drink bad coffee.  A fan of the beach, Dave Grohl and karma, in no particular order.
