One of the Jersey Shore's most popular attractions, the boardwalk at Seaside Heights was also one of the hardest hit places by Hurricane Sandy last October. As we all witnessed those devastating images of the fallen Jet Star roller coaster that many of us grew up riding at Casino Pier, it was impossible not to feel a connection to the destruction that took place along the New Jersey coastline.

Remarkably, a great deal of progress has been made to Restore NJ and to rebuild Seaside Heights' popular boardwalk. In fact, portions of the boardwalk are preparing to open this weekend, including the section including Lucky Leo's arcade!

In honor of this tremendous effort to bring back Seaside's beloved boardwalk, here's a trip down memory lane through pre-Sandy photos of the historically famous landmark, Casino Pier in Seaside Heights!

Many of these photos were taken in the weeks and months before Superstorm Sandy hit the Jersey Shore. Some date all the way back to Casino Pier's early years in the 1960s!
