A bout of seasickness became pretty serious for a 52-year-old man aboard a vessel that ran out of fuel 12 miles off the coast of Beach Haven Saturday.

According to the Coast Guard, crews were requested to medivac the man after he fell ill while on the 28-foot Miss Leane. Officials say Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received a distress call from the vessel after it ran out of fuel 12 miles east of Beach Haven.

Watchstanders then dispatched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew from Coast Guard Station Atlantic City. When crews arrived at the location, they airlifted the 52-year-old passenger to the shore where he was then transferred to waiting emergency medical crews, Coast Guard officials said in a statement.

The disabled boat was then towed by Seat Tow to Morrison's Marina in Beach Haven, authorities say.
