Sill was last seen around 9:30 a.m. exiting Pier 47 Marina, according to the Coast Guard.

Sill was alone but told others at the pier that he would be fishing in the back bay.  Fishing poles were found on the boat.

A Good Samaritan reported the empty 23-foot Nautic Star boat adrift around noon on Monday.

When Coast Guard responders recovered the boat, it was found to have the keys in the ignition with the engine throttle forward.

Monday, the shore was battered by rough water conditions due to far-away tropical storm activity and  thunderstorms pounded South Jersey.
