Scattered storms for NJ through Wednesday evening’s commute

A broken line of springtime showers and storms will push through New Jersey this evening.

Radar has been lighting up this afternoon, as a line of scattered showers and thunderstorms rolls across New Jersey. So far, there hasn't been anything too concerning - these are just run-of-the-mill spring storms. The biggest risks for this evening's commute will be localized heavy downpours, lightning, and small hail.

Most of the storm cells will push through northern and central parts of the state. Luckily, these storms are moving pretty fast, so the weather will only get nasty for about 30 to 60 minutes in any given location. Not everyone will get wet tonight, but driving may be difficult within some of the stronger storms.

Thunderstorm intensity will pulse down after sunset (around 7 p.m.) and the showers and storms will move out of the state by late evening. Skies will clear overnight, with low temperatures forecast in the 40s.
