Last week it was Pitman; this time around it’s Hoboken!

Last week, Santa showed up at the Calabro school in Hoboken for an annual event in which kids get to take their pictures with him for a buck.

No big deal…right?

Ahhh, but this is New Jersey, where EVERYONE has to be included!

One parent objected because he (or she) felt that other religions weren’t being represented. So Santa, all ready to bring mirth and merriment to the event, was asked to leave!

OK, so help me out here.

Santa Claus…a mythical figure, NOT A RELIGIOUS FIGURE, who is supposed to represent all that is good about humankind, kicked out of a school because he only represents one side of the picture.

Upon having to deal with an impending brouhaha, the superintendent of the district called the school board’s lawyer (hopefully on a retainer, otherwise, God forbid, we waste Abbott district money on billable hours for something so trivial) who advised him to reschedule the event, and include Hanukkah and Kwanzaa traditions.

There, problem solved!?

So now the school has taken the bold step of having the students opt to take their pictures with either Santa, a menorah, or a kinara, for the sum of a dollar.

While we’re at it…..can you think of a few more holidays we can throw in…just to make it fair.

While we’re at it….let’s not leave anyone out during Haloween! That pumpkin could probably use some company too!
