As the community of Newtown, Connecticut, marks one week since the deaths of 20 children in their classrooms, school officials are looking ahead to getting Sandy Hook Elementary School students back into class, in a refurbished school in a neighboring town.

The school superintendent says that will happen on January 3rd.

Janet Robinson says consolidating the three first-grade classes is part of that process. One of the three classes has just a single surviving student.

Aside from the first grade, she says, most of the classes at the school will remain intact.

Among those who were buried today was the school psychologist, Mary Sherlach, who rushed toward the gunman during the shooting. She was remembered as a caring professional who ultimately put the lives of others ahead of her own. The principal and four other staff members also died.
