Sandy-Damaged Boats, RVs Being Auctioned Off
It's the end of the line for hundreds of boats and recreational vehicles damaged by Superstorm Sandy.
Many are housed at Monmouth Executive Airport awaiting auction. Of those, some have been rebuilt but many will be sold for parts or get recycled.
An Iowa company, QCSA Direct, has been doing online auctions since earlier this month. QCSA tells the Asbury Park Press that the auctions are open to dealers only but that the company can put individuals in contact with dealers for potential sales.
Vehicles that have been rebuilt will carry titles that show they have been damaged.
A national boat owners association tells the newspaper that an estimated 65,000 recreational boats were damaged by the late October storm, at a cost of $650 million.
