A Saddle Brook dad says the school board did not take enough action when a student threatened to shoot his 10-year-old disabled son with a gun.

George Luis told PIX 11 that the Franklin Elementary School let him know about the threat and then interviewed several witnesses. School officials determined the threat was real and filed a harassment, intimidation and bullying report but took no further action, he said.

“I just feel like the school district lied, lied to us, neglected to take care of safety for all the kids the teachers,” Luis told PIX 11, adding that the incident was never reported to police.

The accused boy was moved to a different class after Luis and his wife complained numerous times and kept their son, who is deaf, home from school.

Saddle Brook School Superintendent Dr. Richard Katz told PIX 11 the district takes bullying "very seriously" but admitted, “I make a judgment call. It was the wrong call in this case and okay, I can accept responsibility for that," said Katz.
