New Jersey's largest university says the gift will strengthen research in identifying genetic abnormalities and help fine-tune treatment of cancerous tumors.

The donation also will increase the number of patients that Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey can treat in clinical trials of targeted therapies.

The gift includes a $1 million endowment for cancer biology curriculum development to support preparing undergraduate students to pursue research and clinical careers in precision medicine.
