University officials say they have been told that Sigma Phi Epsilon's national headquarters has suspended the Rutgers chapter and has no plans to reinstate it.

The university tells NJ.com that without the backing of the national group, the fraternity is done at Rutgers.

Fraternity officials say a 20-year-old member was taken to a hospital on Nov. 1 because he was in an "intoxicated state" after drinking at the fraternity house.

Rutgers says six fraternities and one sorority are under review for alcohol violations.

A 19-year-old Rutgers student died of alcohol poisoning in September after drinking at another fraternity house.
