BEDMINSTER — A Russian Air Force jet on Wednesday flew over the Somerset County golf course where President Donald Trump is spending his working vacation, according to CNN and ABC News.

The fly-over is allowed under a 2002 treaty that allows Russia, the United States and more than 30 other countries to fly short-notice, unarmed flights in each other’s territories.

“The treaty is designed to enhance mutual understanding and confidence by giving all participants, regardless of size, a direct role in gathering information through aerial imaging on military forces and activities of concern to them,” according to the State Department.

CNN reported that a jet flew at a low altitude over downtown Washington, buzzing the Pentagon and the CIA, as well as Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

ABC News cited an unnamed U.S. official who said Russia typically flies such aircraft over command and critical infrastructure.

The president is staying at the luxury Trump National Golf Club through Aug. 21.

The Jersey getaway is costing local airports in lost business as a result of temporary flight restrictions within 10 miles. The Russian jet was not subject to that flight ban.
