New Brunswick police say firefighters responded to the Hamilton Street home around 5:30 p.m. Sunday and quickly extinguished the blaze, which started in the basement. No injuries were reported, and the blaze was ruled an accident.

While firefighters were inside the home, authorities say they saw "an array of drugs and drug paraphernalia" throughout the residence. Police detectives soon responded and the subsequent investigation led to the arrests.

The six male students, all New Jersey residents who range in age from 20 to 22, all face various drug possession charges. Some also face charges of possession with intent to distribute.
