PARSIPPANY — A crash on Route 80 caused delays in both directions for the morning commute.

New Jersey State Police spokesman Trooper Alejandro Goez said a Jeep Wrangler driven by Shane Myer, 21, of Midland Park overturned  in the westbound lanes near Exit 39, for Route 46, around 6:10 a.m. after being rearended by a Nissan Sentry driven by Haribhai Patel, 65 of Parsippany.

Myer was killed in the crash, according to Goez, who said was the only person in the Jeep. Goez did not know if Patel's Jeep was covered or open at the time.

Goez said Patel nor his passenger were injured.No charges have yet been filed .

The crash caused multi-mile rubbernecking delays in both directions. The investigation into the incident kept two westbound right lanes closed.

Routes 10 and 46 picked up extra volume because of the crash.
