Route 29 Closes Saturday Morning For Trenton Half-Marathon
Route 29 will be closed through Trenton on Saturday morning for the second running of the Trenton Double Cross Half Marathon.
3,200 runners will start at Waterfront Park, home of the Trenton Thunder, at 8 a.m. The day's activities include Art All Day and the Punk Rock Flea Market.
Route 29 will close at 6 a..m. between Route 129 and Lower Ferry Road and is scheduled to reopen around 12:30 p.m. The "Trenton Makes" Bridge and the Calhoun Street Bridge will also be closed in both directions.
A detour will be in place at both ends of the closure using Lower Ferry Road, Parkway Avenue, Olden Avenue and Route 1.
Organizers are hoping the closure will go bet this year. “Closing the bridges, closing 29 is a big thing, but it has to go off smoothly,’’ race organizer Chris Seiler, told PhillyBurbs.com. . “Last year, the start was delayed a bit. This year we’re working to make sure it goes off on time."
