Route 1 reopened after crash; eight people seriously injured

Route 1 has been reopened following a major crash that sent eight people to the hospital, some with critical injuries, officials said.

Portions of the highway had been closed for six hours as a result of the multiple vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Deans Lane and Route 1.   The crash was first reported at 5:13 a.m., according to a statement from the South Brunswick Police Department.

The crash continues to be investigated by the South Brunswick Police Department with the assistance of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office. Additional details on the crash will be released later today.
