Truck crushes cars stopped at North Brunswick Route 1 intersection

NORTH BRUNSWICK — A truck barreling down Route 1 failed to stop in time, crushing two cars at a Route 1 intersection Tuesday morning, police said.

The crash caused major delays during the morning commute and injured the drivers of the two cars.

The crash happened about 7:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes near North Oaks Boulevard.

Police said the truck struck a Toyota Corolla, pushing it into an Acura in front of it.

Police Capt. Brian Hoiberg said the car drivers were hospitalized at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, with one in critical condition. The truck driver was not injured.

Hoiberg said no charges had been filed Tuesday morning.
