Cleo, Rosie, Sonny and Hillary need forever homes [NJ Pets of the Week]
NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League and Friends of EMAS (Edison Municipal Animal Shelter) to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes. Help us find these pets homes by sharing this information with family members and friends who may be interested in adopting a shelter pet.
Cleo came to us when a rescuer could no longer care for her cats. She is a gorgeous grey tiger, with gem-like amber and green eyes. Cleo has a charming personalty, enjoys being petted and loves nuzzling. She lost her tail, and we don't know the story behind that. She has a little dove tail, which makes her even more adorable. Cleo is spayed, vaccinated and FIV and FeLv negative.
If you're interested in meeting Cleo or fostering/adopting her, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.
Rosie is a sweet young dog who is about a year old. She is a great family dog, and has lived in a foster home with a trainer, children and other dogs. Rosie is looking for a family that will understand she has lots of energy and needs to be busy. She needs a fenced-in yard and lots of exercise. Rosie does have a calm, quiet side though and she will happily curl up on a couch with you. She loves to roll on her back for belly rubs and will practically fall asleep when she gets one.

Our first meeting with Sonny was a sad one. Someone dumped him out of their vehicle and drove away. Thankfully, we were able to rescue him and get him to safety right away. Sonny is a young yellow Labrador Retriever who will dazzle you with his sparkling white teeth and his playful little boy charm. Like a typical Labrador Retriever, Sonny is filled with lots of energy. He's a beautiful boy with so much potential because he is very intelligent, attentive and learns very quickly. He walks well on a leash and sits on command. Sonny does get distracted at times while taking walks when he sees a person or dog that he finds extremely interesting. When that happens, the walk turns into a game of tug-of-war with the leash as he tries to direct the walk. Currently, we are working on correcting this behavior, but Sonny's new owners will need to continue the training in his new home. He will thrive in a home that gives him plenty of exercise, walks, play, creative mental stimulation, training classes, love and relaxing time all with you. Sonny will be a wonderful family member in your home. A fenced-in yard is preferred.

Hillary was rescued from the street when an EASEL volunteer saw what a sweetie she is. She's a young adult with a beautiful tuxedo coat and white paws. Hillary became a mommy when she was only 5 months old, and now she's looking to grow up in a nice, safe forever home. She's a true lap cat and would love to curl up on you and loudly purr as you pet her head. Hillary loves to roam around and explore her terrain because she's still very much a kitten at heart. We think she would do better in a home without young children.
