Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney has visited a factory in suburban Cleveland that closed in 2008 when George W. Bush was still in the White House, and blamed President Barack Obama for failing to reopen it in more than three years in office.

Obama visited the plant in the winter of 2008, when it was still open, and used it a backdrop for his own campaign.

Now the vast plant stands nearly empty, and Romney said that's evidence of the failure of the president's policies to get the country working again.

Ohio is a perennial battleground in presidential politics. No Republican has ever won the White House without capturing the state, and both Obama and Romney are expected to pour in campaign resources through Election Day.
