U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton says he hopes to get the Roger Clemens perjury trial in Washington to the jury by Tuesday.

That could prove overly optimistic given the pace of the trial so far.

The defense plans to wrap up its case Monday, and the government will call rebuttal witnesses. Walton says he expects to get to closing arguments Tuesday and then send the case to jurors with his instructions.

On Friday, Clemens' wife, Debbie, testified that Roger Clemens was not present when she received a shot of human growth hormone from his strength coach. That contradicted a small portion of the testimony from the coach, Brian McNamee, who is the former pitching star's chief accuser in the case.
