“Rocky” has come to the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway. Instead of Sylvester Stallone singing and dancing, Andy Karl is starring as the Italian Stallion, and Terence Archie as Apollo Creed.

The fight scenes are real with the contact expertly choreographed by Steven Hoggett, who taught the cast to throw and land punches that don’t hurt each other. The actors did have to sign a danger waiver for the show. This is a standard procedure when an actor is involved in risky actions, like brawling or flying over the stage on wire, for example.

Despite the fighting, “At the end of the day, ‘Rocky’ is a love story, and he could never have reached the final bell without Adrian,” Stallone said in a video produced by Stage Entertainment. You can watch a sneak preview of it below.

How do you think Rocky will translate to the stage? What’s the best Broadway show you’ve ever seen?
