Police in New Jersey sound they have found a "person of interest" in the case of a swastika that was painted on the door of an Islamic center last month.

But authorities in Rockaway have not announced any arrests.

Authorities had posted security-camera photos of a woman they wanted to talk to about the graffiti, which was found on the door of the Islamic Center of Morris County on June 21.

The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations tells NJ.com that police should investigate the incident as a hate crime.

But officials at the Rockaway mosque warn against blocking what happened out of proportion.
