RAHWAY — Police say a robbery suspect fell "right into officers' awaiting arms," quite literally, as they searched his Bryant Street home.

According to Rahway police, a victim reported that on July 14, she was robbed at gunpoint by four males who then fled into a house on West Main Street. Officers from the Rahway Police Department and the Union County Emergency Response Team responded searched the residence, but didn't turn anyone up, police said. Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution, police said.

Officers spotted Edson Dorsainvil entering his home on  Bryant Street Monday, police said. They didn't specify in an announcement of his arrest how he'd become a suspect in the robbery.

"Dorsainvil attempted to conceal himself in an attic crawl space as officers entered the home. However, luck being on our side, Dorsainvil fell through the ceiling into the living room — right into officers' awaiting arms," police wrote.

He was being held Monday at the Union County Jail on first-degree armed robbery and related weapons possession charges.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Rahway Police Department TIPS line at 732-388-1553, or Detective Kevin Wronski at 732-827-2048.
