Hamilton Police said a man wearing what looked like a homemade ski mask entered the home on Lakeview Drive in the Yardville section of Hamilton around 8:20 p.m. with a sawed-off shotgun. The family was tied up and the home ransacked with several undisclosed items taken, police said.

Police said a female member of the family was taken hostage and forced to drive the man to Trenton in a family vehicle. She was released unharmed, according to police.

The name of the family involved in the home invasion was not disclosed.

The robber was described as a black male approximately 35 to 40 years of age, standing 5 feet and 10 inches, and weighing 180 pounds. Police said the man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with blue sleeves, dark blue jeans, bright white Nike Air sneakers with a white Nike “swoosh,” a black backpack with a teal rear pocket, and a black homemade ski mask that may have been a “beanie”-style hat with holes cut for vision and breathing.

Hamilton Police asked anyone with information about this incident to call 609-689-5825 or the Hamilton Police Crime Tip Hotline at 609-581-4008.
