Mogila tragically passed away at the age 25 in 2012.

The foundation has made considerable strides in that short span. Executive Director Erik Gaines estimates they've raised and donated about $30,000.

"The feedback that we have gotten has been outstanding. Our support has been growing exponentially," he said.

Some initiatives include an annual high school scholarship program and throwing support behind the local chapter of SADD. They continue to work towards the goal of educating and supporting healthy lifestyles for the youth.

"Our endgame goal is hopefully to eventually build some type of rec center or facility that can have a place for the kids in the community to go to," Gaines explained.

The group holds one of their largest yearly fundraisers on Saturday, June 21. The 3rd Annual Ryan Mogila 3 on 3 Streetball Classic takes place at Johnson Park in Jackson.

"This is our third year, it's grown every year," Gaines said. "During the event, we also have some activities for the kids."

The event offers a chance to bring the community for a great cause and an opportunity for a group of friends and family to honor Ryan Mogila.

"We wanted to honor him in respect to what he's accomplished through athletics and sports," Gaines said.
