Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing will be the first to feature an update to the game. According to the New Jersey Lottery, the Game Matrix change will result in larger starting jackpots, faster growing jackpots, a million-dollar second prize and better odds of winning any prize.

Tickets will continue to cost $1, but players will have a larger range of numbers to choose from.

Under the change, the minimum jackpot will increase to $15 million from $12 million, and jackpots will grow by no less than $5 million after each drawing in which the jackpot is not won.

Before Tuesday's drawing, players who matched five white balls without the Mega Ball would win $250,000. That prize has jumped to $1 million.

The number of white balls will increase to 75, and the number of gold balls will decrease to 15.

"The result will be overall odds of just 1 in 15 to win any prize," the Lottery said in a press release. "Under the revamped game, the odds of hitting the jackpot will become better than 1 in 259 million."
