Republican presidential candidates negotiating with networks for better debates
There is dissension among the ranks of Republicans over debates. Last week's debate on CNBC was widely panned for moderators asking "gotcha" questions and little time for the candidates to answer questions.
Now the candidates are bypassing the Republican National Committee and negotiating with the networks directly. They are pushing for mandatory opening and closing statements and an equal number of questions for all candidates.
With 10 candidates on the main stage, there is little time for anyone to make a point.
