Just a little over two months ago, Lindsey Giannini had tears in her eyes. A moment later, she had a tiara on her head and a sash over her shoulder.

It had all come down to that final, fateful moment. She stood hand in hand with Anna Negron. And then the announcement came: "Miss New Jersey 2015 is Miss Central Coast, Lindsey Giannini."

She burred her face in her hands and hugged her runner up. "She's the One" From "A Chorus Line" began playing on the stage.

And with that, Giannini was set to represent the Garden State in the Miss America 2016 pageant.

Best of luck to our home state's representative in the 95th annual contest Sunday night. She's brought her magic talents to the competition, and she's built a platform around ending texting and driving — something anyone who's spent much time on the Garden State PArkway or the New Jersey Turnpike can get behind.

She's already won the Quality of Life Award at a $6,000 scholarship in the preliminary competitions in Atlantic City.

The Miss America 2016 pageant will be broadcast live from Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall Sunday, Sept. 13 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
